Ahead of the forthcoming FIFA 20 Global Series, Manchester City have announced a partnership with esports organisation Faze Clan.

The partnership is set to go beyond competitive play and extends to include a shared training facility, co-branded products, YouTube content and hosting exclusive fans events and around the world.

The FaZe Clan FGS 21 Kit is a wearable replica of the digital in-game kit FaZe Clan and Electronic Arts released last December as a part of the FIFA 21 Global Series esports team vanity collection. The collection will become available at 12 p.m. As with in other eSports, FIFA players often represent a team of players split between Xbox and Playstation, usually eSports-based such as Fnatic, FaZe Clan or Astralis. Manchester City's own esports roster currently includes FIFA player Shaun ‘Shellzz’ Springette, while Faze Clan is represented by Tassal 'Tass' Rushan.

Faze Clan was formed ten years ago on YouTube by teenage Call of Duty players who decided to change their gamer-tags to form the group.

Today, Faze Clan is a blend of YouTubers, Twitch streamers, and professional gamers who produce both gaming videos and lifestyle vlogs.

Faze Clan is the most followed gaming organisation in the world with 214 million global fans and over 500m monthly views of its content.

Manchester City and Faze Clan have previously linked up to create YouTube videos together, including during City's tour of the United States in 2017. Faze’s much decorated Fortnite gamer Nate Hill, is also an avid City fan and is often seen wearing club colours while streaming.

City were also the first Premier League club to launch a FIFA Online team in China, which will soon be joined by gamers from South Korea as it grows across Asia.

Beyond professional gaming, the club also hosted the Man City esports Cup last year which saw 10,000 City-supporting amateur gamers take part in the tournament from across the world.

FaZe launched its FaZe Clan FGS 21 kit initially in December last year. It formed part of its esports team vanity collection and became an instant fan-favourite.

This has prompted the Esports entity to re-launch fresh versions of its FIFA kitthis month. What makes the current launch special is that this is the first time FaZe Clan has released a physical product parallel to a virtual release.

Kappa’s association with FaZe Clan dates back a couple of years as a proven brand of choice. The sportswear marque first partnered with FaZe in 2019. It created a thirteen-piece merchandise collection and a pop-up store in Los Angeles.

The limited-edition kit includes a football jersey and shorts. It will feature Kappa’s logo plus the number four on the right sleeve to represent 433.

FaZe Clan’s latest merchandise launch is an indication of the Esports entity’s eagerness to attach itself to FIFA and football’s global fan base. This joint initiative, alongside its recent collaborations with Manchester City, have been both esports and football-focused.

FaZe seems to have clearly identified a key mainstream market and is using commercial activities to enhance its own brand. FIFA fans can surely expect more goodies on similar lines in the future.
